Breeding & Hatching Due-Date Calculator

Pick a species, enter the mating or egg-set date, and get an expected due or hatch date β€” plus the typical range either side of it.

Pick a species and enter the mating date to see an expected due date.

How the due date is worked out

Enter the mating date β€” or, for eggs, the date you set them β€” and the calculator adds the average gestation or incubation length to give an expected date, plus the earliest and latest dates in the commonly published range either side.

The lengths used are: pig 115 days (range 111–120), goat 150 (145–155), sheep 147 (144–152), rabbit 31 (28–35), horse 341 (320–380), chicken egg 21 (20–22), duck egg 28 (27–28) and Muscovy duck egg 35 (33–35). Individual animals vary, so treat the expected date as the middle of a window rather than an appointment.

Common questions

How long is a pig pregnant?
About 115 days on average β€” three months, three weeks and three days, counted from the first day of mating β€” with a commonly published range of 111 to 120 days. Some US sources round this to 114.
How long does a chicken egg take to hatch?
About 21 days, with hatching usually between day 20 and day 22 from when the egg was set.
How long are goats pregnant?
About 150 days on average, with a range of roughly 145 to 155 days.
How accurate is the date?
It's an average. Breed, litter size and the individual animal all move it, so use the range either side and keep an eye out from the early end of the window.
